An always Friend

First time I held the twins.

Having twins was a shock!  In every way I was not expecting them.
-I was done having children.
-There are no twins anywhere in our lineage.  -I had JUST lost all my baby weight from the former three.
-I had JUST gone back to work full time.
-We lived in a tiny, 3 bedroom house.

I cried for the first few months of my pregnancy.  One day as I was sobbing, my husband held me tight and gently spoke some truth “Are you really saying to God that you don’t want this amazing blessing?”  That was the end of my crying, and frankly my pouting.

There truly has been so many blessings in these two kids. This morning was just another example of how the Lord uses them in my life.

As they were brushing their teeth before school, I walked by to see this scene: Ty pushing Brooke’s sleeve up as tooth paste foam was dripping down her arm.  I smiled, heart warmed by the scene, and thought, “Must be so great to have a twin.”

As I walked back to the kitchen to prepare their lunches the Spirit softly said to me, “I am that friend.  A friend that sticks closer than a brother.” (Prov. 18:24)  All I could do was smile, warmed by the thought.  His friendship is so many things:

-He knows my inner thoughts  (Psalm 139:2)

-He knows me better than I know myself so I don’t even have to try and explain myself to Him (Psalm 139:13-16)

-He listens to me whenever I need Him (Psalm 55:17)

-He provides for me when I need it (not when I think I need it) (Phil. 4:19)

-He loves me more than any human is capable of (I John 4:9-11)

What freedom that brings to know I have a friend, closer than a twin brother, by my side!  All the time.  No matter what.

Are you searching for love?  Do you long for companionship?  Have you been hurt by someone close to you? Maybe you and your spouse are at odds?  Have you been misunderstood?  The best friend you could ever imagine is waiting to sit with you, listen to you, comfort you, show you the way and fill your heart with love (and forgiveness).  Let Him into the door of your heart and bless you.

Romans 5:6-11

6When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.
