Poem: Present Realities

Looking at pictures of blissful days
Not knowing realities would be memories longing
A time when time wasn’t counted
And days floated by

The heart longs to find them
Searches for ways to recreate

Time now counted
Each minute ticks like a gong
Uncertain days trudge and drag their feet

What strength is left for hope
Is left for looking

We are told to keep marching
To keep praying
To keep thanking
A formula mixed time and time again

Yet the pictures keep reminding
Realities keep speaking
Time keeps ticking
Louder and louder it seems

Don’t the pictures fail truth?
Truth sits in today
Hope for tomorrow holds our bliss

Present realities are gifts
Aren’t they?
Molding us
Drawing us
Making our knees the preferred position
Bowed heads our default

When self has no where to go
But to the All Knowing
When eyes can’t see
The All Seeing stands guard

A new man is being created
One blissful pictures can’t see
When uncounted time meant self reigned

Step through the realities
Believing hope
Rejecting emotion
Surrender to unknown gifts

We need You
Put moving feet on our tired legs
Deaf ears on the sounds of time
Bright eyes to see beyond
Heart overflowing with strength and courage
